Our mission

Docifra was born from a simple observation: most online PDF tools upload your documents to their servers to process them. For files that are often sensitive, contracts, payslips, medical records, that asks for a lot of trust.

We took the opposite approach. All processing happens in your browser, so your files never leave your device. You get the convenience of an online service with the privacy of installed software.

How it works

Modern browsers have become powerful enough to run locally operations once reserved for desktop software. Thanks to WebAssembly and proven libraries (pdf-lib, pdf.js, tesseract.js), merging, compression, OCR or encryption happen on your machine.

The site is installable as an app (PWA) and even works offline once loaded.

Our model

The tools are free and require no sign-up. To stay viable, we may display ads, governed by consent and never accessing the content of your files. The AI features rely on your own API key, with no markup from us.

Who it's for

For professionals handling confidential documents, legal, HR, healthcare, accounting, as well as anyone who would rather, on principle, not send their files to an unknown server.
