Privacy Policy

In short

Docifra is designed to collect as little as possible. Your PDF documents are processed entirely in your browser: they are never uploaded, copied or stored on a server. We run no file-processing server and create no user account.

This policy explains which few data points are involved when you use the site, why, and what your rights are.

Your files never leave your device

All operations (merge, split, compress, convert, OCR, password protection, etc.) run locally using web technologies (WebAssembly, pdf-lib, pdf.js, tesseract.js). The content of your files stays on your device from start to finish.

We never receive, view or keep any of your documents. You remain solely responsible for backing them up.

Data stored locally

Some preferences (language, saved pipeline recipes) and, if you enable it, your Claude API key are kept in your browser's local storage. This information stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

You can clear it anytime by clearing your browser's site data.

AI features and third-party services

The AI tools (chat, summary, data extraction) extract the text of your PDF in the browser, then send only that text to Anthropic's Claude API via your own API key, and only when you trigger the action. The file itself is not transmitted.

That processing is governed by Anthropic's privacy policy. If you don't use these features, no data is sent to Anthropic.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand overall site usage (pages viewed, devices). These statistics are aggregated and are not used to identify you. Where regulation requires it, they are enabled only after your consent.

Advertising and cookies

The site may display ads served both by Google AdSense and by a third-party header-bidding partner, an ad-management agency working with several advertising partners (SSPs). These partners may set cookies or use identifiers to measure and, where applicable, personalize ads.

In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, these advertising cookies are enabled only after your explicit consent, collected through a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP). You can decline or withdraw consent at any time.

These cookies concern only the display of ads and measurement, never the content of your files, which is not accessible to advertisers or their partners.

Data sharing

Because we collect neither your files nor an account, there is no personal data to sell or share. The only third parties involved are the technical providers needed to run the site (static file hosting, content delivery network, ad network if enabled, and the Claude API when you use AI).

Retention

We do not keep your files or a profile. Locally stored data (preferences, API key) stays on your device until you clear it. Any advertising-consent data is kept for as long as necessary for its purpose.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and applicable laws, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection. As we hold neither your files nor an account, these rights mainly concern advertising-consent and analytics data.

Children

The service is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data about them.
